How do you use this Cognizil glossary?
Keep the Supplement Facts panel open beside this page. Each entry points to the line where you will see the word. If a term is new, read its entry, then check the panel.
The entries are short on purpose. For depth, follow the links to our other pages. The sources and review page explains where the facts on this site come from.
What do the Cognizil glossary terms A to F mean?
Adaptogen
A plant traditionally taken for resilience under load. Panax ginseng, eleuthero and maca are grouped this way. The word describes traditional use, not a proven effect.
Amino acid
A building block the body uses to make proteins and messengers. L-tyrosine, GABA, L-tryptophan and L-carnitine are on the panel.
Blend (proprietary blend)
A group of ingredients that print one total weight and no separate amounts. Cognizil's blend is 15.47 mg for 21 ingredients.
Chromium picolinate
The form of chromium on the label: 7 mcg a serving, 20% of the Daily Value. It is the one ingredient with its own amount.
Daily Value (DV)
A reference amount used to express a nutrient as a percentage. A dagger means no Daily Value is established, as for the blend.
Dropperful
The unit of dose. One dropperful is 1 ml. A 30 ml bottle holds 30.
FDA-registered facility
A plant that has told the FDA it exists. It describes the factory. It is not approval of the product, and no dietary supplement is approved before sale.
What do the Cognizil glossary terms G to N mean?
GABA
Gamma aminobutyric acid, a calming signal in the body. It sits in the blend. Whether swallowed GABA reaches the brain in people is still an open question.
Guarana
A seed that is one of the richest natural sources of caffeine. It is in the blend and no caffeine amount is printed.
Liquid drops
The only form. Cognizil is taken by dropper, with no capsule, gummy or tablet version.
Nootropic
A word for supplements aimed at thinking, memory or focus. It is a marketing term, not a legal one. See what nootropics are.
Natural flavors
A label term for flavoring from natural sources. The source is not specified on this label.
What do the Cognizil glossary terms O to Z mean?
Potassium sorbate
A preservative that keeps a water-based liquid stable.
Serving size
The amount the panel's numbers refer to. For Cognizil it is 1 ml.
Stevia
A plant-derived sweetener. With xylitol it is why the panel shows 0 calories.
Structure and function claim
The kind of claim US law allows a supplement to make. Advanced Memory Support is one. It is not a treatment claim.
Supplement Facts
The panel on the bottle that lists serving, amounts and ingredients. See the supplement facts guide.
Xylitol
A sugar alcohol sweetener. Harmless to most adults in small amounts and toxic to dogs.

How does this Cognizil glossary help you read the whole label?
Once the words are clear, the label is short. A 1 ml serving, 30 servings, one amount you can check and one blend you cannot. Nearly every question about the product comes back to the blend line, so read that entry twice.
If a word you saw is missing, tell us through the contact page and we will add it. See also the brain supplement checklist for ways to apply these terms when you compare products.

Our view
A Cognizil glossary will not tell you whether the drops suit you. It will make the label readable, and a readable label is the only fair basis for a choice. The two terms to remember are proprietary blend and FDA-registered.
We are a retailer, so weigh this with that in mind. This is general information and not medical advice. Ask a pharmacist before you start if you take medicine, and use the guarantee if it does not suit you.
